Students from Lorena ISD competed in the Heart O’ Texas Academic Rodeo. The event gives first through sixth grade students the opportunity to show what they have learned in school. Math, Spelling and Social Studies are the areas students can compete in.

In the Math Bee, Niko Smith was the Reserve Champion for first grade. In the fifth grade competition Laredo Wynveen finished in third place. Summer Larsen finished in fifth place.

In Social Studies, Cody Page was the fifth grade Grand Champion. Natalie Harper was the Reserve Champion.

In the fifth grade Spelling Bee, Larsen and Wynveen were both Oral Bee Qualifiers after advancing out of the preliminary round. Wynveen was the Reserve Champion in the Oral Spelling Bee.
